Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are advanced reservations required?

Yes. Reservations are required for all farm events at Carolina Horse and Carriage, LLC DBA Clear Creek Adventures. Once we receive your group’s non-refundable $5/participant deposit we will pencil in your reservation time and date. Once the group organizer submits their Waiver, stops by the farm for an orientation, and pays the balance in cash, the reservation for the adventure will be confirmed.

  • Does everyone who arrives at the farm need to sign a waiver form?

Yes, our farm has animals, hills, pastures, creeks, and many other “obstacles”. So to squelch our paranoia and inform everyone of the farm dangers we require absolutely everyone, even those “just watching”, to sign a waiver.

  • Weather:

This is an outdoor facility. Your Clear Creek Adventure will continue in a light drizzle, but not in a sustained downpour. Please check the weather conditions and dress accordingly. We reserves the right to close in the event of inclement weather. There may be times the creek is too dangerous or the trails too wet to use. Please check for inclement weather before you embark.

  • What if the river is “up”?

If your Clear Creek Adventure includes time in the creek, you have a choice… Either reschedule your entire event for a dryer day or choose to proceed without the Clear Creek Exploration portion of your day. We can always add a few more runs to the slip and slide, or some teambuilding activities to the Water Wars.

  • Cancellations

If heavy rain is forecast to wash out your time at Clear Creek Adventures, we’re more than happy to apply any money paid toward another day. Or refund all but the $5/ person deposit, if rescheduling your party doesn’t work out.

  • Are lifeguards provided?

No, swim or float at your own risk. On our property Clear Creek usually runs from 1 – 2 feet deep. There are a few 5-foot-deep holes you may encounter. If you choose to walk beside your child, either walk around the holes or be willing to enjoy floating downstream  with your child.

  • Is the event wheelchair accessible?

Due to the natural terrain, the farm is not fully wheelchair accessible, we can all do our best to make the experience as safe and fun as possible for all participants. If a child can be lifted safely into place, and can ride the ride safely, let’s do it.

  • As a Parent or Guardian must we “tag-a-long” throughout the entire adventure?

We encourage “grownups” to travel along with the children throughout the route of the party. If your party is scheduled for any of the water events – the Slip and Slide, Water Wars, or Clear Creek Tubing, then woods will be hiked, hills will be climbed, people will get wet, and creeks maybe concurred. So, if you have a medical condition that prevents you from doing this, you can enjoy your time, from a distance while lounging creek side, you will be forgoing great photo ops, and will need to ask another parent or guardian to take charge of your child.

“Grownups” with children involved in Unicorn Parties or Pony Rides will find Adirondack chairs located around the equine activities.

  • Participant’s medical conditions:

The children who are scheduled for the Slip and Slide, Water Wars, or Clear Creek Tubing will be petting smaller horses, goats, and maybe even chickens and will be encouraged to hike, run, jump, and play throughout natural uneven terrain, in woods, on hills, in pastures, and in the creek. They need to be able to do so safely.

Children involved in Unicorn Parties or Pony Rides will be encouraged to feed and pet horses, goats, and maybe even the chickens. They will be encouraged to ride a miniature horse if they weigh less than 60 lbs., a pony if they weigh less than 110 lbs. or a quarter horse if over 110 – 250 lbs.

  • Are there any photos that will be taken while on an adventure?

Your photo will be taken. By signing the waiver for Carolina Horse and Carriage, LLC DBA Clear Creek Adventures you agree to have your photo taken and for it to be used for marketing, as well as for other purposes. You may even be seen on our social media platforms or website.

  • Do I have to pay to parking?

    Parking is free!

  • What if I drop my phone, keys, etc?

You can call us at (828) 767-9715 or email us at  ncclearcreekadventures@gmail.com. Please give us a description of the item, the location that you think you lost it, etc. and we will look for the items as soon as we can. If we find your item(s), we will call or email you to set up a return visit.

  • Do you have an ATM?

No, we do not have an ATM. There is an ATM in the Walmart parking lot about a mile away. We do accept credit cards. Cash will give you a slight discount.

  • What should we wear for pony rides?

If you are scheduled for Pony Rides you may consider bringing some long pants along to reduce chafing and you will need some closed toe shoes.

  • Can I bring food or beverages from home?

Sure, cake too. Lots and lots of good moist yummy cake! We will have some limited snacks and drinks for sale if you need them. Please expect or 7 and 12 year old boys to request a morsel... You can say, "No", but the consiquences may be sevier.

  • Do I have to wear a life jacket?

Only if you are participating in the Clear Creek Adventuring. Participants of a Pony Party would look weird in a life jacket. Life jackets are available in sizes from child through XXL and are provided for free. You may also bring your own if you prefer.

  • Can I bring my dog?

Sorry no, outside pets are not allowed at the farm. Our livestock gardian dog frowns on cornivorous intruders.

  • Can we smoke, bring alcohol, or play loud music?

No, sorry, we are family friendly. Do not bring anything that may interfere with the environment of others.
